German motorcycle tyre manufacturer Metzeler represents high quality and performance of its products. Metzeler was founded in 1863. It formerly manufactured a wide range of plastic and rubber products. In 1890 they entered aviation market and after two next years - the motorcycle and automotive markets. Main Metzeler operation was destroyed during the World War II, but it was rebuilt after the war. For two decades after the WW2, Metzeler’s main distributor in the United States was Berliner Motor Corporation. With the beginning of 1980s Metzeler decided to focus exclusively on motorcycle tyres. In 1986 the company was bought by Italian tyre giant Pirelli. Metzeler is one of the world's leading brands of motorcycle tyres, with a market share of over 30% in Germany. In 2006 and 2008 readers of Motorrad magazine chose Metzeler as the Best Brand in the tyre segment. The company focuses on developing hi-tech tyres for motorcyclists.
